Historic and Full/Half Sovereigns can sometimes carry an additional numismatic premium depending on date, mint mark, rarity and condition - our team will identify this during your valuation and explain any premium clearly, rather than quoting bullion price alone on a coin that's worth more to collectors.

It's a common instinct to polish up old coins before selling, but cleaning can reduce the value of genuinely collectible pieces by disturbing their original surface (known as "toning" or patina) - so please bring coins exactly as you found them, along with any provenance or paperwork you may have.

We weigh your item on calibrated scales and test its purity (carat) using non-destructive methods. That purity is applied to the live gold spot price for the day to give a price per gram, which is then multiplied by the weight of pure gold in your item. Any gemstones or non-precious-metal parts are excluded from the weight used for pricing.
No - walk-ins are always welcome during our opening hours. If you'd prefer a specific time, especially for larger items or bullion, you can book an appointment using our contact form and we'll confirm a slot that suits you.
Once you accept our offer, payment is made on the spot by bank transfer or cash, depending on the amount and your preference. There's no waiting around - most customers are paid within minutes of agreeing a price.
UK law requires us to verify the identity of anyone selling precious metals. Please bring a valid photo ID (passport or driving licence) and, if available, proof of address such as a recent utility bill or bank statement.
Yes. Broken chains, single earrings and damaged pieces are all accepted - we price scrap and broken jewellery on its pure metal content, so there's no need to repair anything before bringing it in.
There is absolutely no obligation to sell. Our valuations are free and you're welcome to get a second opinion elsewhere before deciding. We'd rather you feel confident in your decision than rush into a sale.
No - the calculator on our site gives an indicative estimate based on the current market rate and the details you enter. Your final price is always confirmed in person, after we've physically weighed and tested your item, since online estimates can't account for exact purity or condition.
Yes. Every transaction is fully documented with an itemised receipt showing weight, tested purity and the price paid, and we record the details required under UK precious metal dealing regulations.
