Why price per gram varies by carat
Gold jewellery is rarely pure 24ct gold - most rings and chains are 9ct, 14ct or 18ct, alloyed with other metals for strength and colour. Because we price on pure gold content, a higher carat means more pure gold per gram, and therefore a higher price per gram.
